For several years the Palau Soccer Association under its president  Daryl Lund has been investing in the promotion of this sport.
In mid 2008 the Peace Dream foundation donated funds to continue the development of soccer in Palau’s elementary schools.
At the same time, more good fortune also arrived in the form of Charles Mitchell who had returned from USA and had spent 4 years there honing his soccer skills at a college he had attended. He was more than happy to volunteer to work to gether with the Palau Soccer Association to visit several of these schools that are remotely scattered around the big island of Babeldaob.

After donating soccer balls to all the schools Charles proceeded to visit each school in turn to ungrade the PE teachers and students on the rules and the skills.
Although Palau has abundant beauty in its seaside and forests that can occupy the young , soccer is a great way to bring the children together to challenge them into building good team working skills and learn the qualities of leadership and fair play that can be attained in the sport.
Well a big day arrived for the first two schools that wanted to challenge each other, Ngardmau and Ngaremlengui schools date that had been set for their tournament arrived ,14th March 2009 , the two schools faced off with their 4 teams.
The Palau Soccer Association members arrived, Daryl Lund who is also a machine shop owner had been able to put together some very good goal posts. His daughter Ashley brought her friends along to help as lines keepers and special assistants. This made the days games run very smoothly.
Parents and onlookers were surprised to see the very excellent ball handling skills and good team play that the teams exhibited.
At the end the day much to the delight of the players each was rewarded with a Peace Dream Tee shirt.
