PFMP is an international non-profit project dedicated to fulfilling the potential of soccer to be a global influence for peace and development. PFMP develops models of peace building by holding soccer tournaments around the world. These tournaments introduce principles and codes of conduct designed to improve both the quality of the game and the quality of life in every nation and between all nations. PFMP envisions a series of local, national and regional soccer tournaments eventually leading to worldwide youth tournaments. PFMP is currently participating in plans for a Youth Peace Cup to be held every two years. These tournaments will be notable for the quality of the soccer but, equally importantly, for the quality of the sportsmanship, cooperation, communication and friendship that they generate.
Code of ConductPlayers are expected to: • Attend all scheduled practices, meetings, games, and tournaments, and to give 4 hours of volunteer service each month to a local community. • Conduct themselves in a respectful manner, displaying sportsmanlike conduct; no swearing, obscene or vulgar language; no fighting or bad behavior; no gestures directed toward an opponent, teammate, coach, or fan; to hold their temper and control their anger. • Play by the rules, and not to argue with the official’s decision. • Not engage in the theft or destruction of property. • Not engage in conduct detrimental to the team, club, or community. • Treat other players as you wish to be treated; not to abuse or ridicule other players. • Give the ball promptly to the opponent for their throw-ins, free kicks, and not to stall by withholding the ball or encroaching on free kicks. • Applaud all good plays, whichever team makes them. • Win with grace, and lose with dignity. |
